Some of Lao She's fictions can be regarded as the excellent examples of reverse writing of colonial empires. They provide the same platform for the colonists and the colonized to converse, thus counterattacking the recurrence of mistakes and the ambiguity of the stereotype. Further, Lao She composes the Singaporean fables in a way of fairy tale, subverting the myth of Westerners' cultivation of Singapore on the ground of native Chinese. Behind the scenes of this reverse writing, the self-identity of Lao She is more inclined to Chinese, endowed with rich and complex metaphors. But we should be alert to the possible tendency of cultural colonialization and the practice of duplicating violence.
